Ed Johnston is a multimedia designer, artist, and educator working in a variety of contexts involving interactive design and three-dimensional digital technologies. Johnston has presented, published and exhibited his creative work and research nationally and internationally. Recent highlights include his TEDx talk and peer-reviewed presentations and papers at the UCDA Design Education Summit and the ISEA International Symposium on Electronic Art. Johnston worked on an award-winning project Augmented Asbury Park, which involves digitally reconstructing key historic landmarks on the Asbury Park boardwalk in New Jersey through augmented reality. The free mobile experience invites people to interact with historic structures that are no longer there. He has recently received funding to document Liberty Hall Museum in New Jersey using mixed reality technologies.
